Cheboksary, Russia, 2015. Four persons - 2 men and 2 women - have been arrested by police on suspicion of fraud. They are believed to have deceived foreign citizens by pretending to be Russian females looking for foreign husbands.
An investigation has been launched following the complaint filed by a foreign citizen. The man got in touch with a "Russian woman" over the Internet some time ago. They liked each other and started sort of virtual romance. Then under various pretexts the conmans swindled the victim out of money (6000 USD) and fooled man decided to go to the police.
As it turned out later, the complainant wasn`t the only victim in this case - there was an office where the conmans had been chatting with potential victims interested in Russian brides. Another man lost 8 000 USD in exactly the same way. Soon all the persons related to this case were detained. The group had database with emails of foreign men and email samples in English. The investigation is set to continue.
