Two Russian women detained by Interpol for alleged online dating scam

Saint Petersburg, Russia, 2011. Interpol employees arrested 2 Russian women on suspicion of fraud. 26-year-old woman from Saint Petersburg and her 24-year-old female accomplice from Moscow had been tricking foreign men on dating websites into thinking that they were in love with them.

Then the women suggested meetings in person abroad and asked victims to send them money to cover their travel expenses. After getting money the cheaters stopped answering victims` messages and calls. Also they used other excuses to make men send them money. One of the reported victims was a Danish national who had lost 3 000 USD.
