If a clever man (just like you!) is interested in getting a foreign bride and goes through multiple marriage agency websites or contacts some Russian (in our case) women on social networks, one big doubt might trouble him: why do all these women supposedly want to marry a foreign citizen? In fact, some men applying common sense would perceive it as something weird and even consider those women prostitutes. Marriage agencies and women in general perfectly understand all the awkwardness of this situation and they don`t want to be seen this way. They try to represent and advertise themselves as decent as possible. If you have already visited some marriage agency website, you might have noticed that there is almost always one large article titled like "why do Russian women want to marry foreign men" or something similar. There is usually a set of well known arguments in such articles and these "arguments" are myths. And even lies in some cases, if you will. I am going to prove it right now.
1) Myth №1: Women outnumber men in Russia. It is generally true but there is one very important, crucial I would say, nuance - age dispersion. According to the , there are more males born than females in Russia (as in many other countries). And there are more men than women untill the age of 35 in Russia. As you can find out, women slightly outnumber men between the ages of 35-45 and this difference becomes really palpable only among pensioners. So, the correct phrase here is: "Grandmothers outnumber grandfathers in Russia". By the way, it is quite common situation across the world - grandmothers (women) are more numerous than grandfathers (men) in Brazil, the USA, Germany, France, Japan etc.
2) Myth №2: Russian women have old fashioned, family values. Generally, it is not true. Of course, it depends on the person. But you can perfectly find women like this and the opposite both in a store on the Fifth Avenue in New York and in a small village in the middle of nowhere. I think old fashioned values are not bound to a place. It is possible to find such people everywhere. And I am going to explain to you why this particular myth about Russian women is not true.
Back in 1917 the Great October Socialist Revolution took place in the Russian Empire. Briefly, the communists won and then they started to reconstruct mostly peasant archaic society according to the "progressive" socialist ideals. Apart from everything else, they were heavily focused on gender equality and designed the legislation based on this concept. Women got all the rights - they could study, vote, have their own bank account, be appointed to an important position or get child custody. As a consequence, Russia is one of the by number of women in senior management (43%) now. By contrast, in Spain in 1930s it was incredible and unheard of that a woman had her own bank account or at the time in England special instructions were printed and handed out as for how wives should meet their husbands after a day of work etc. I mean that women in Russia de jure have been equal members of the socialist society with all the modern rights since 1930s. And what you understand under the term "feminism" had been implanted in the Soviet Union approximately 1 generation (1920-1950s) before it appeared and was massively introduced in the West (1940-1980s). Here I mean so called "the second wave of feminism" concerned about family laws, social and cultural "inequalities", not mostly individual activism of the first wave that had been focused chiefly on political inequalities!
3) Myth №3: Russian women are beautiful. Hmm...Again it is a matter of taste. Nevertheless, the truth is that almost any woman who is neither fat nor pimpled might be considered good-looking in a way. Generally Russian women are as beautiful as German, Italian, American or British ones. By the way, there are several renowned beauty-contests around the world: Miss Universe (founded in 1952), Miss World (since 1951), Miss International (1960) and Miss Earth (2001). The Russian women`s record is very poor with only 3 wins as of now: 1992 (Miss World), 2002 (Miss Universe) and 2008 (Miss World). Furthermore, there have been only 15 Russian women among over 300 women in total from all over the world who have been selected to form part of Victoria's Secret angels.
4) Myth №4: Russian women want to have a family. Very dangerous delusion! And it is ridiculous too, since the feminism has been implanted at its finest in the Soviet Union earlier than in the West. Yeah! If you are rich, famous or look like Hugh Jackman, Justin Timberlake or Ryan Phillippe, of course, Russian women as well as American, French, Spanish or Canadian ones will want to have a family with you. But the number of such men is really insignificant. Let`s see what happens when a Russian woman who supposedly wants a family gets one. For sure, you have heard those murky stories involving two NHL players from Russia - Colorado goalie Varlamov (in 2013) and LA Kings defenseman Voynov (in 2014). Both of them were arrested on domestic violence charges filed by their Russian girlfriends. Finally in both cases it turned out to be false denunciations. The two players were not prosecuted although it cost them loads of money splashed out on lawyers and they had rather tough days being bashed by the press. Now pay close attention, my reader! Their no more than just good-looking Russian girlfriends somehow got young, strong, fit, successful, rich, famous sportsmans who were much higher in the social hierarchy. Just be yourself, be smart, walk down the aisle, start a family and be happy enjoying a lavish lifestyle! Jackpot! Right? But all this wasn`t sufficient for Russian women. They decided to dump their partners using American laws and get some great part of their money. Fortunately, the judicial system did function properly and they couldn`t carry out their plans.
So, it happens even to the top 1% guys! In this example you may learn that the main personal quality of a Russian woman is egoism. They are extremely selfish. But at the same time they can perfectly conceal it and, thereby, their second personal quality is hypocrisy. They are really good at concealing their real feelings and thoughts! You might think that everything is ok but one day you will receive such a blow from them that you will remain speechless and even knocked down and, probably, you will never understand WHY she did so. Among other personal qualities of Russian women I can highlight greed, envy and vanity. Of course, not every Russian woman is like this and they have good qualities too. But in this article I am trying to describe that type of Russian woman whom you are likely to deal with being a foreigner.
And a couple of words about divorces. According to the statistics, the Russian is 51% - fairly the same level as in most European countries. So, do you still think that Russian women who are ready to rip off their partners and with average European divorce:marriage rate DO want to have a family?
Summarizing, I would like to say that nowadays Russian women generally are not interested in having a family, especially that old fashioned family you might have thought about while reading their untruthful advertisement on the Internet. And they are not interested in having a family especially with you, my friend, as, let`s be honest, you are neither rich nor handsome. So, the main reason why some Russian women might marry you is your passport through which they expect to enter a wealthier (or generally more interesting) market. Once they reach this goal you will be dumped without mercy. It is their most protected secret that, probably, drives you crazy and the key to explain their behavior.
