Astrakhan, Russia, 2016. The police detained a taxi driver (32) and his friend (36) accused of trying to abduct the Netherlands citizen`s son and demand a huge ransom. The story begins when the taxi driver picks up unusual clients - the Ducth, his Russian wife and their 4 year-old son. During the ride the culprit learnt that the foreigner might be rich. He told his friend about it and together they came up with an idea how to make the rich pay - they decided to kidnap the child.
To accomplish this task, they started to spy on the family. Also they bought a vehicle, prepared masks and handgun mockups. The plan consisted of snatching the child near the house and then they wanted to demand 15 mln. rubles (aprox. 220 000 USD). But the police could get information about their preparations. So, when the kidnapers arrived at the family's house to carry out the plan, they were arrested by the agents. Lifenews.
