TV soccer row led to stabbing

Bahrain, 2007. A British man is recovering after being stabbed by his Russian wife during a row over a soccer match. The row flared after Russia beat England 2-1 in the Euro 2008 qualifier match in Moscow on Wednesday, a Public Prosecution spokesman told the GDN last night. He said the woman was arrested after stabbing her husband twice in the arm, but was released after he said he did not want her charged.

The man, a Bapco employee in his 40s, was treated at Awali Hospital, but was back at work yesterday, said sources. The couple were drinking while watching the game and got into an argument as emotions flared, said the spokesman. He said the woman who had been arrested by police and transferred to the Public Prosecution was later released. GulfDailyNews.
