Swindlers got over $1 million in a Russian Bride Scam
San Diego, USA, 2003. Robert McCoy (40) of San Bernardino County received a sentence of 5 years in prison for swindling about 350 men out of $1 million in a Russian Bride Scam. His wife of 2 years Anna Gruntovaya from Russia was also convicted of taking part in that scam. Mr. McCoy used her photos and personal data to deceive victims. The couple had a 2 year old daughter. The woman received a softer sentence because McCoy had started the Russian Bride Scam before meeting her. Her role wasn`t very important. Moreover, McCoy had a notable criminal record: he had been convicted earlier of kidnapping and assaulting. Newsru.
